Supakwadee Amatayakul, Ph.D. (Claremont Graduate University, USA), has conducted research in the areas of Feminist Philosophy and Feminist Philosophical Historiography for 15 years.
A former Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, she was also one of the core faculty members of the two academic programs in Women’s Studies in Thailand.
Her publications in English, Thai, French, and Chinese cover new dimensions on feminist interpretations of classical philosophical sources. Her researches on René Descartes’s Passions of the Soul are the first philosophical treatment of the role of the emotions in Descartes’s moral philosophy in Thai, and have been published in different languages.
She is a member of the Committee on Gender of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies as well as of the Asian Association of Women’s Studies.
She was a Visiting Scholar at Peking University, China, at Osaka University, Japan, as well as at the University of Athens, Greece.
She is the general editor of the Chulalongkorn Journal of Buddhist Studies, and is currently a visiting professor at the National Research Council, Italy.
